The People‘s Paper TERMSâ€"Subscribers in Canada $1.50 per vear if not paid in advance. In United States Issued every Weduesday from the Office of Publishers, Main and Oak Streets, Grimsby. Almost as important as the money is the munitions and in this respect the United States can be of inestimable value to the Allies. Her enormous miants, her available coal and steel, her unlimited capital, and her expert workmen, all combine to make the munition plants of the United States the second greatest producing plants in the world, Germany alone being greater. the and The United States at the present time is the richest country in the | damage world in available cash. It has the money and better than that it is out of l Rat. debt so that as a factor in the financial situation the United States will be of a wondetful benefit to the Allies. . C In the matter of men the United States can be if she will of great serâ€" vice to the Allies. If Canada with a possible population of five million can raise four hundred thousand soldiers the United States with 34 possible popuâ€" lation of eighty million should be able to raise over six million men ready for war. Khe United States And The War: Three weeks after war was declared in 1914 Canada had thirtyâ€"three thousand men mobilized at Valcartier ready to take ship for overseas. ‘Three months after war was declared by the United States not a man will be availâ€" able for overseas. The difference between Canada and the United States in this matter lies in the fact that the Minister of Militia, Gen. Sam Hughes, mobilized his men of his volition right off the bat and had them en route for England within a month after the declaration of war. On the other hand the Congress and the Senate of the United States are so foud of talking rather than fighting that the question as to when the United States will get men to the front is one that nobody can answer. The difference between Canada and the United States in this respect simply lay in the difference between a single energetic soldier on the one hagnd and a big crowd of careless, selfâ€"secking politicians on the other hand. R When Sam Hughes said go it went.. When Congress said go the Senate said no. When Wilson said go both the Senate and Congress said no. When part of the Congress said go the other part said no. Consequently the United States has already exposed its great weakness in war time and that is the lack of a man or war minister to shoot and shoot quick without anybody‘s advice or waiting for the consent of any selfâ€"seeking politician. The United States will probably get men to the front some time but thera won‘t be many of them get hurt before the fourth of July. â€"_> Pn m ie ty .w wriv piti China And The War: China they have will go to ut Sometimes he 1 fellow and sometimeé God help the small Russia Russia is like many another country t ages.
