\ The Scott Act Convention. St, Catharines News. The temperance people of the county and city met here in convention on Satâ€" urday. There seemed to be great unanâ€" imity of opinion of those present in a belief in the Scott Act, with all its acâ€" knowledged defects, as having discourâ€" aged the use of intoxicating liquors to a marked degree. The prominent feature of the convention was the pronounced stand taken upon the question of formâ€" ing a Third Party with Temperance as a leadplank in the platform, the opinion being almost unanimous that such & course would tend to retard rather than to advance the temperance cause.
