Funeral services were held in Beamsville on Tuesday afternoon for John Samuel Hill, 66, whose death occurred in West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on Sunday following an illness that had lasted for 6 weeks.

Born at Wallacetown, Ontario, deceased was well and favourably known all over Ontario as a trainer and driver of harness horses. He had lived in Beamsville for the past 14 years and during that time had trained several colts that had won big stakes over Ontario and Maritime racetracks.

He is survived by his wife, the former Audrey Croft; two sons, Samuel, of St. Thomas, and Elmer of Smithville; two sisters, Cecilia of St. Thomas and Mrs. Alton Housley of the same city; and one brother, Frank, of Stevensville.
