Zimmerman, Mr. and Mrs. A.D. (Anniversary: 60)
- Full Text
A very enjoyable event took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Zimmerman, Spring Creek, on Saturday, January 3rd, when the 60th anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. A.D.Zimmerman, the former's parents, was held.
The gathering took place at the spacious home of their son which is also the old homestead where Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman spent most of their married life. Many friends of the esteemed couple gathered at 11 o'clock to bid them happy returns of the day. Shortly after 12 o'clock about 50 sat down to tables loaded with good things. A beautiful five storey wedding cake trimmed with white cyclamen blossoms graced the table in front of the happy old couple, who wore bouquets of pink mums.
After dinner was served a photograph was taken of those present out on the lawn in front of the old homestead, following which all gathered in the large drawing room where piano and violin numbers, singing and speeches were enjoyed with Mr. William Zimmerman acting as chairman during the afternoon. He read a letter from the honored couple's daughter, Mrs. Blake Johnson, who was not able to be present but who sent a request that as the clock struck four those present would sing "God Be With You Till We Meet Again", stating that she would also sing it at that hour in her far distant home in the states.
