Cole, Robert and Fair, Mabel Winnona (Married)
- Full Text
At 4 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, June 23rd, at the home of the parents of the bride, Grimsby Beach, the wedding was solemnized by the Rev. H.S. Graham, minister of St. John's Presbyterian Church, of Mabel Winnona, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Fair, and Mr. Robert Cole, only son of Mrs. Elizabeth Cole, of Grimsby.
The rooms were beautifully decorated with palms, ferns, peonies and roses, the ceremony being performed beneath a canopy of white wedding bells. The lovely bride, who was accompanied by a flower girl, little Roxina Stuart, was given in marriage by her father. She wore a dress of pale blue georgette trimmed with Chantilly lace ensemble with large mohair hat, and carried a shower bouquet of butterfly roses, sweet peas and babies' breath.
The mother of the bride was gowned in black satin, with corsage bouquet of mauve sweet peas, the mother of the groom wearing a navy blue canton crepe dress, with corsage of yellow roses.
The wedding march was played by Miss Norma Hermiston, who also played softly through the service. While the register was being signed Miss Hermiston sang "Because" very sweetly.
About 35 guests from Niagara Falls, N.Y., Toronto, Tilsonburg, Vineland, Hamilton beach, Winona, and surrounding points, were present at the wedding breakfast, the bride's table being beautifully decorated with roses and other summer blooms. Many beautiful gifts testified to the regard in which the bride and groom are held.
An interesting feature was the presence of four generations. Mrs. Martin, Mrs. George Fair, Mr. Harry Fan and baby Dorothy Jean Fair. Following the wedding the Rev. H.S. Graham officiated at the christening of little Dorothy Jean.
Another feature was the decoration of the wedding cake which held a silver holder which adorned the wedding cake of the bride's mother 27 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Cole left by the evening train for a short honeymoon to points east, the bride wearing a dress of sand georgette with hat of contrasting shades. The bride's bouquet was caught by Miss Lottie Wilcox. On their return Mr. and Mrs. Cole will reside in Hamilton.
