The late Mr. Cruikshank was a school teacher and farmer nearly all his life, having moved to Beamsville about 42 years ago to take up principalship of the public school. Shortly after this he purchased the Adam Tufford farm on the Station road where he lived until his retirement to the village 6 years ago.

He was engaged in the teaching profession for 33 years, 8 of which were spent before coming to Beamsville, 5 in the Beasmville school, 10 at Grimsby Park and 10 at the Thirty.
Besides a host of friends in Beamsville, he leaves one son, S.R. of St. Catharines, one brother, William, in Hamilton, one brother, John, in Orangeville and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service conducted by his pastor, Mr. Arthur, was held at the house on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 16, which was attended by a large number of friends and relatives. The next day the body was conveyed by motor to the Kelvin cemetery in Brant county where it was laid to rest beside that of his wife, Myra Robertson, who predeceased him nearly 11 years ago.
