After a brief illness of only a few days, Cyrus Sumner Nelles, the last remaining member of his immediate family, passed peacefully away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.F. Baker, North Grimsby, on Saturday evening, April 19th, 1924, in his 90th year.

As lately as one week previous to his death, Mr. Nelles had been able to sit out on the verandah and move about the house. The end came very peacefully and without any suffering.

He was the eldest son of the late Peter Nelles, and was born at York on the Grand River, in the county of Haldimand in 1835 and came to Grimsby when he was 6 years old, and lived all his life on the farm where he spent his declining years. He was predeceased by his wife, Emily Millard, about 2 years ago.

The deceased gentleman was a member of a large family, all of whom predeceased him.

He had three brothers, Walter H., formerly of Grimsby; Robert A., formerly of Rapid City, Manitoba; William, formerly of Ingersoll. His sisters were Mrs. John H. Grout, Mrs. W.H. Gurney, Mrs. Dr. Woolverton, Mrs. J.D. Christie.

He is survived by three sons, Leslie M., of Grimsby; Lieut.-Col. Stephen B., of Regina; Norman C., of Grimsby, and two daughters, Mrs. (Major) H.F. Baker, Grimsby and Mrs. A.A. Lucas, of Philadelphia, Pa. There are also 8 grandchildren.

In religion the late C.S. Nelles was an ardent supporter of the Episcopal Church, and in politics a life long Conservative.
