John Herbert Carpenter, will known fruit grower of St. Catharines district, died suddenly Friday evening at his home, 16 Thomas Street, following a heart attack. He was born in Dunnville 60 years ago and went to St. Catharines in 1911, operating a fruit farm at Niagara-on-the-Lake. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and also of the St. Catharines and Lincoln County Automobile Club. The family of the deceased lived in Grimsby for many years, residing on the farm now occupied by Mr. Charles Wouters.

He is survived by his wife, nee Estella Ann Konkle, and 4 daughters, Mrs. E.L. Church of Muskegon, Michigan; Misses Marion, Marguerite and Kathleen at home; also one sister, Miss K.L. Carpenter of Los Angeles. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon, interment taking place in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Grimsby.
