The attention of The Independent has been drawn to a slight error that was made in this paper three weeks ago, in chronicling the 90th birthday of Mr. Sylvester Oakley. In that article The Independent stated that Mr. Oakley was the oldest person in Grimsby. In this we were in error, as Mrs. James Farrell, Mountain Road, is the oldest person in Grimsby, being older than Mr. Oakley by 28 days.

Mrs. Farrell was 90 years old on August 3rd last and Mr. Oakley was 90 on August 31, thus Mrs. Farrell is the oldest person in town and Mr. Oakley is the oldest man in town and also in the township. Mrs. Farrell resides with her son, Robert Farrell.

The oldest person in the town and township is Mrs. Sophia Ann Book, of Grimsby East, who celebrated her 94th birthday at the home of her son, George Lorne Book, on January 18th last.
