The Rev. Albert Christian Baker died at his home in Grimsby on Friday, Feb. 9, 1923, after a short illness, in his 79th year. The late Mr. Baker was born at Burch, Ont., in April 1844, and received his early education there and at Brantford. He then attended Woodstock college and was ordained in the Baptist ministry about 1870, his father being a missionary to the Six Nations Indians before him. He had charges during his 50 years in the ministry at Blenheim, Walkerton, Sarnia, Sawyerville, Que., and at Fullerton, from which charge he retired about a year ago and came to Grimsby to live. Surviving are his wife, who at present is ill in hospital at Edmonton, Alta., four sons: A.G. Baker, of Chicago; Hon. A P. Baker, (former pastor of Grimsby Baptist Church) Minister of Education for the Province of Alberta, Edmonton; Dr. A.H. Baker, Calgary; Emerson Baker, at home; one daughter, Mrs. J.R. Wright, West Virginia; one brother, Judson Baker, of Brantford; and one sister, Mrs. Charles King, of Oakland, Ont. The funeral took place from his late home on Gibson Avenue, this morning, Wednesday, Feb. 14th, to the G.T.R., thence to Burch, for interment.
