The death occurred on Saturday, Jan. 20, 1923, of Emma W. Franklin, wife of Charles W. Smith, in her 58th year. She had been a resident of Grimsby for about 5 years, coming here from Port Rowan. For some time she had been in ill health and an attack of pneumonia proved too great a burden. Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Edna, her mother, Mrs. Emmeline Franklin of Erie View, four sisters: Mrs. Andrew Smith, of Simcoe; Mrs. Walter Ellis, of Port Rowan; Mrs. G.B. Killmaster, of Grimsby; Mrs. Lundy Millard, of Sault Ste. Marie; two brothers, Crellan Franklin, of Erie View, and Salem Franklin of Clear Creek. Service was conducted at her home on Kerman Avenue on Sunday afternoon by the Rev. J. Allan Ballard of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, and the remains were taken on Monday to Port Rowan for interment, the pallbearers being G.D. Killmaster, Walter Ellis, Andrew Smith, Burwell White, Thomas Pearce, Plewis Pearce.
