Full Text

An old resident of this district passed away at the home of his son, Meno Moyer at Akron, N.Y., Sunday morning in the person of Abraham Moyer. Up to 6 years ago deceased resided with his daughter in Jordan. He had been employed as a mail carrier between Jordan Station and Vineland for 27 years, in all that time he had never missed but one train. He was very well known to the travelling public who had occasion to be in this district. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Oscar Skinner, with whom he resided in Jordan, as well as two sons, Meno of Akron, N.Y., and Wesley, of Rochester, N.Y., and one brother, David H. of Vineland. The late Mr. Moyer was a very trustworthy man, and weather held no fears for him when his duties took him out to catch the mail trains. Himself with his horse and wagon were as familiar, up to the time he gave up his duties around Jordan, as the station itself. He took great pride in the fact that he had never missed but one train in all his time as mailman. This is quite a record for 27 years of duty over county roads with their snow drifts and mud at different seasons of the year. He was just as faithful an attendant at his church on Sunday as he was in his week-day duties.
