A pioneer of the district in the person of Mrs. Ursa M. Anderson, widow of John Anderson, died at her home on the Thirty Mountain road, on Saturday, Jan. 6, 1923, in her 87th year. Mrs. Anderson was born in Grimsby Township on November 26, 1836, the daughter of William Shingler and Elizabeth Jane Leonard, and had lived in the district practically all her life. She was stricken with blindness some years ago, and had been confined to her bed for many weeks. Surviving are a son, John, North Grimsby, and three daughters, Mrs. Jane Sweet, of the Thirty; Mrs. Samuel Feirn, Mrs. John McLeif, both of Muskoka. The funeral took place on Tuesday, Jan. 9, to Mount Osborne Cemetery, Beamsville, the Rev. G.E. Smith of Beamsville Methodist Church conducting the services.
