- Full Text
The death occurred on Friday, July 22nd, at the home of her son, Robert King, 93 Duckwitz Street, North Tonawanda, of Mrs. Robert King, at the ripe old age of 86 years. The deceased lady had been in her usual good spirits up until the Sunday previous when she was suddenly taken ill and despite the best of attention and medical aid passed away on Friday. She retained her faculties right up to the last. Mrs. King was a former resident of Grimsby, and many of her children were born here. She moved from here with her husband and family about 35 years ago and was one of the real old timers that were expected home for the Reunion. She was very active for her advanced age right up to the time she was stricken down and had planned on visiting Grimsby with her sons and daughters during the Reunion. Many old residents of Grimsby and the district will remember Mrs. King and her family, which was a large one consisting of five daughters and three sons, the daughters being Mrs. J.B. Lawrence, North Tonawanda, N.Y.; Mrs. File, Brantford; Mrs. G.T. Mitchell, Dunnville; Mrs. George Barwell, Riverside, Cal. and Mrs. J. Richardson, North Tonawanda. The sons are Robert King, North Tonawanda; James of Middleport, N.Y. and William of Buffalo, N.Y. Three sisters and one brother survive her, the sisters being Mrs. George Spaide, Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. E. Garretsee, Toronto; Mrs. B. Wilcox, St. Catharines, and the brother Alvin Lounsbury, Niagara Falls, N.Y. The funeral was held on Tuesday, July 26th from the residence of her son to Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St. Catharines, by motor, where she was laid to rest beside her late husband.
