St. Catharines, Ont., Jan. 25 - Charles Henry Schwenker, 68, of Louth Township, was almost instantly killed last night by a west bound train on the Grand Trunk Railway while walking on the track less than a mile west of St. Catharines. He had just stepped off the east bound track to allow an approaching train to pass. The engineer stopped the train and the injured man was carried to St. Catharines. He died as he was being carried into the St. Catharines General and Marine Hospital.
