Smithville Review - On January 3, 1871, Adam Simmerman of this place (it used to be called Mud Creek in those good old days), and Lydia, second daughter of Mathias and Elizabeth Freas Snyder of Caistor, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony. On Monday, January 3, 1921, this worthy couple celebrated their golden wedding at their home at Vineland. They commenced and spent most of their married life in this community. After the marriage of their son, they moved to Beamsville, where they resided for a few years, from there back to dear old Spring Creek, on the old Jos. Lindaberry farm, and lastly to Vineland. (Some one has said that all retired ministers want to go to Heaven via Toronto. It seems quite a few people think the same thing about Vineland.) Mr. Simmerman's hair is still as black as it was when he left ranks as a bashful young bachelor for that of a happy benedict. Those present at the golden wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Snyder; Wm. and Mrs. Ed. Snyder, Jordan; Wm. Comfort, Campden; Melvin Simmerman and family of this place. We extend our congratulations.
