September 25 is a very special date for Mr. and Mrs. Roy Piett of 12 Lincoln Ave., Grimsby - it's the day on which they were married 50 years ago. On Sunday, Sept. 26, the couple will celebrate the occasion at the Grimsby Senior Citizens' Centre on Livingstone Avenue from 2 until 6 p.m. All their friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend. Both the Pietts have lived in this area for most of their lives, having met in an apple orchard here. They "went" together for four years before marrying...They were married at the parsonage on Livingstone Avenue by the Reverend Thomas E. Richards. The date inscribed on their wedding certificate is September 25, 1926. Mr. Piett worked at Metal Craft for 33 years before retiring 3 years ago. Mrs. Piett also worked at Metal Craft, at various positions for 16 years. They have two children: Grimsby fire chief Morris Piett, and Mrs. Marian Root, both of Grimsby, and five grandchildren.
