It was a beautiful day for a wedding, Mrs. Roy St. John of 53 Robinson St. N. recalled last week. The weather couldn't have co-operated better. It was a balmy September day, with the sun shining brightly as she and Mr. St. John entered Stoney Creek Anglican Church of the Redeemer for the noon wedding ceremony. That was on Sept. 10, 1910. Last week, Mr. and Mrs. St. John quietly celebrated the 60th anniversary of their marriage. Several longstanding friends in Grimsby were with them to mark the occasion. Mr. St. John is a native of Saltfleet Township. Mrs. St. John is the former Mary Etta Watt of Tweedside, near Grassie. Following their wedding, the couple moved to Eramosa Township near Guelph. They came to Grimsby 41 years ago, and have lived here ever since. Mr. St. John operated a butcher store on Main Street, where Casey's Produce store is now, for 17 years. Both Mr. and Mrs. St. John are members of St. Andrew's Anglican Church. Mrs. St. John is a member of the Anglican Church Women group of the church, and a member of the Grimsby Women's Institute. Mr. St. John is a member of the Masonic Lodge, No. 7, Grimsby. The Grimsby couple have one son, James Wellington St. John of Windsor, a commercial pilot. "It was a happy occasion for us," Mrs. St. John said this week. "We'd just like to thank our many friends and neighbours for the many flowers and anniversary cards."
