North Grimsby lost one of its best known and most highly respected citizens on Saturday, Jan. 21, when Mrs. Thomas Arthur Kemp passed away in her 67th year. The deceased lady was one of a large family, sons and daughters of the late Squire Patterson of South Grimsby, and her death will be mourned by a large circle of relatives and friends. Mrs. Kemp had been enjoying her usual good health up to two or three months ago when she commenced to fail and gradually sank until the end came on Saturday last. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Arthur Kemp, an ex-reeve of the township of North Grimsby, and by a family of 11 sons and daughters, all of whom are grown up to manhood and womanhood , and all of whom were present at the funeral on Tuesday. They are William and Robert H., of Hamilton: John and James at home; George in the Bank of Hamilton, Beamsville; Mrs. Wm. Dunn, Fonthill; Mrs. W.P. Marlatt, Clinton; Mrs. James Marlowe, Grimsby Beach; Mrs. W. Riddiford, Peterboro; Mrs. W.J. Harshaw, Burlington; and Miss Gertie Kemp at home. Five sons and one son-in-law, Mr. W.L. Riddiford, were pallbearers. Service was conducted at the house by the Rev. Mr. McLeod, Baptist minister, Beamsville, and the interment took place at Queen's Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby.
