In the death of the late Andrew G. Muir, reeve of North Grimsby, his family not only lost a kind and loving father, but the township lost one of its best men. As a public man Mr. Muir was an energetic worker and a wise and cautious counsellor. Very few men in this section of country were as well read in municipal law or whose opinion was worth more. Besides this he had the genial nature that made a social companion and the sterling worth that made him a true friend. None was more kind and considerate than he and none will be more missed. Although sick but a short time the news of his illness spread far and wide and when his death occurred it fell like an electric shock on the entire community, and expressions of regret at his death, and of sympathy with his bereaved family, were universal. The funeral, which took place on Tuesday to the English church cemetery, was largely attended. He was buried with Masonic honors, the Beamsville brethren assisting the Grimsby Masons to perform the last sad rites over the body of their departed brother. The members of the A.O.U. Workmen, and Home Circle were present in uniform. The pall bearers were D. Kerman, and Wm. Forbes, for the Masons, J.W.G. Nelles, and S.A. Nelles for the Workmen, and W.V. Hare, and A.G Pettit, for the Council. The floral decorations were numerous and very beautiful. Several gentlemen from a distance were present, among whom were W.H. Gillard, John Muir, and W.F. Walker of Hamilton, A. Hodge and S.W. Spillet of St. Catharines, and C.S. Walker of Grand Rapids, Mich. A large number of mourners followed the hearse.
