The casualty lists still continue to report their portion of killed and wounded of men from this district... Pt. Edward Harshaw was killed at the battle of Hooge. He was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Harshaw of Beamsville and a brother of Bert Harshaw of Grimsby. For several years he was a resident of the Thirty Mountain. Ed. was about 21 years of age...

Pte. Jack Pyett is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Pyett, Grimsby Mountain, having moved here with his parents last spring...He is wounded. Lance-Corporal Arthur Harold Meggs...is reported wounded...Shortly after he enlisted he was married to Miss Winnifred Brown...
