Durham, Elizabeth Jane (Died)

One of the district's best known and highly respected residents was called to a higher and more pretentious home on Thursday, March 13, 1913 when Elizabeth Jane, beloved wife of Mr. W. B. Durham passed peacefully away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.H.D. Walker on Mountain Street. The deceased lady had not been in the best of health for some months but had been able to move around until about three weeks ago, when she became so ill that she had to keep her bed, where she gradually grew worse until the end came on Thursday afternoon last. Mrs. Durham was in her 69th year and was born in Northhamptonshire, England moving to Canada with her parents when quite young. A little over 49 years ago she was married to Mr. Durham in Smithville and they have lived in this district together for nearly half a century. Besides a husband she leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Mrs. J.H.D. Walker, Town of Grimsby and Mrs. Jos. Secor also of Grimsby. The funeral which was very largely attended by friends and relatives from far and near was held on Saturday afternoon, March 15, interment taking place in St. Andrew's Church cemetery. ...
