On Friday, Jan. 3, there passed away one of the early settlers of the Township, in the person of the late John Jackson. His wife predeceased him some four years ago. At the time of his death he was 79 years old. He was a very successful farmer and for a number of years was the leading breeder of Southdown sheep. He was also Reeve of the Township for a number of years and Warden of the County. He was a Baptist in religion and a conservative in politics. The deceased leaves five children to mourn his loss, they are Mrs. Wm. Miller, of Winnipeg; Mrs. Alva Coon, Fulton; Miss Bertha at home; D.J. Jackson of Calgary, and Dr. A.W. Jackson of Albany, N.Y. The funeral took place from his late residence on Monday, to Hamilton Cemetery and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Rev. Mr. Bristol had charge of the services at the house.
