Stricken with paralysis on Saturday afternoon, Alexander Sweet died early on Monday morning at his home here, in his 63rd year. Mr. Sweet was of robust build and his sudden demise was a shock to his many friends. Mr. Sweet was a life-long resident of the district. While still a young man he lost one of his forearms through a shooting accident, but followed farming for many years after. When the new post office was built 10 years ago his condition made him a most suitable man for the position of caretaker, and he has held that position since. He was an enthusiastic member of the L.O.A. Scarlet Knights, and Royal Black Preceptory and had held various offices in each lodge, and was past master of L.O.L. 2732. Surviving are his wife, three sons and three daughters: Clarence, Michael and Roy, and Gladys, Dorothy and Evelyn. There are also three brothers and three sisters: John of Grimsby, Isaac of North Grimsby, Angus of Beamsville, Mrs. Mathers and Miss Minnie Sweet of St. Catharines and Mrs. Reid of Beamsville. The funeral takes place this afternoon from Thorpe Bros. funeral parlor at 2:30 to Queens Lawn cemetery. The services will be conducted by the R.B.P.
