The passing of Joseph Penfold Thursday morning at his home, 82 Burris Street, after a short illness, will occasion the deepest regret to his many friends in Hamilton. Born near Tapleytown, he was in his 81st year and was well known in this city. He spent the greater part of his life in Hamilton, where he conducted a flour and feed business on John Street south. Mr. Penfold was one of the original members of Ryerson United Church and at the time of his death was a trustee and honorary elder. He was a member of Crescent Lodge, 104, Oddfellows. Surviving him are his wife, Martha Barnard Gosnay, Penfold; two sons Roy and Gordon of Hamilton; one daughter, Mrs. E.K. Pearson (Reta)of Hamilton; two stepdaughters, Mrs. J.M. Game, Walkerton; Mrs. Arthur Jobborn, Hamilton; one sister, Mrs. James Hildreth, Tapleytown, and two brothers, James, of Stoney Creek, and Aurey, of Grimsby; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
