Cloughley, John (Died)

An aged and respected citizen of Grimsby who has been a resident of the town for about two score years passed away on Sunday, in the person of John Cloughley, Robinson Street South. His death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Teeters, Buffalo, N.Y. He had been in ill health since April, being confined to his bed the past two months. The late Mr. Cloughley, who was in his 78th year, was born in Armaugh [sic] County, Ireland and came to this country 54 years ago. He had been a resident of Grimsby for about 40 years. His wife predeceased him eight years ago. He is survived by three daughters and six sons, viz; Mrs. Elizabeth Teeter, Fort Erie, Mrs. E. Brockbank, Blackpool, England, Mrs. Roy F. Teeters, Buffalo, N.Y., Andrew and David, Grimsby; John and George, Buffalo, N.Y.; Frank, Hamilton and James, Tampa Florida; one brother, David of Hamilton also survives. Deceased prior to his retirement five years ago had for 35 years been associated with the H.G.&B. Railway as section foreman. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the funeral home of M. Stonehouse & Son, Mountain Street and was conducted by Rev. E.A. Earchman, pastor of Trinity United Church. Fellow citizens and friends were present in large numbers. Interment was made in the Winona Cemetery at Winona. The six sons of the deceased acted a pallbearers. There were numerous beautiful floral tributes.
