... The above photograph shows Pte. William "Chummy" Warner of the 176th Battalion and his six sons, Thomas, Arthur, Samuel, William, George and Charles. Four of these boys are in the trenches fighting, Thomas is a prisoner in Germany and Samuel, along with Chummy, his father, is a member of the 176th, now under orders to proceed overseas at a moments notice. The father and all the sons were born in Weston-Super-Mare, County of Somerset, England and came to Grimsby about 8 years ago to manage the large fruit farm of Messrs. Wickstead and Battersby on the Thirty Road. Chummhy was a swimmer of international fame ...
