Scully, of Owen Sound, has purchased and shipped over 25,000 bushels potatoes of last seasons crop, and we learn that even at the low price of forty cents a bag, farmers are re- alizing a good profit from this branch of {^riculture. A man near Shelbume sold to Mr. Scully this season seven hundred bags off four acres, which at fonrty cents per bag brought the sum of 9280, or 970 per acre. The Rose and Hebron varities are recommended as the most market- able potato. A Bsatlst's Boaon. A few weeks ago we noticed in the 'ioronto papers that Mr. J. P. Lucas' priv. ate office on Saturday evening last, all the members present. Matters of im- portance were discussed in a harmonious and business Uke manner notwithstand- ing the wide difference of opinion which exists regarding the location of the new school. An offer from the Glenelg Agri- cultural Society of Si acres for 9600 was read by the secretary and was con- sidered a very reasonable price. It was moved by Wm. Lucas, seconded by C. W. Rutledge, that this offer be accepted â€" ^lost. Moved by H. D. Irwin, second- ed by E. Rutledge, that the Bowes offer at head of Ehzabeth St. be accepted â€" carried. This brought things to a dead lock, as the ratepayers had decided by vote in favor of the Agricultural grounds. A majority of the trustees therefore after agreeing with the ratepayers to finally determine the location of a site, by a vote by ballot, have determined to have an arbitration and the ratepayers are now called upon to appoint an arbitra- tor, the trustees also to appoint one, and the School Inspector will be the third. On Tuesday evening another trustee meeting was held in same place; sdl present. Mr. J. C. Forster, architect, of Owen Sound, was present and sub- mitted plans of the new school buildings at Chatsworth and Owen Sound, when the latter, with certain modifications, was chosen, and Mr. F. employed to ex- ecute plans and specifications and super- intend the erection of the new school !. building. Mr. Forster is highly recom- mended by those who have had him on similar occasions, and we feel confident that his part will be satisfactorily and expeditiously done. Biunneai ooals.
