If some people were a little more careful to carry out what were known to be the wishes of neglecting them and putting on black suits and six inches of crape around their hats, they would be evinc- ing more respect to the memory of tbe departed. It always strikes me as very inconsistent, to use a mild expression, when I see young men with a wide piece of crape round one arm roaring with laughter at some jest of their companions it is evilent in such cases that the mourning is mearly an outward form, wid it would be far better to dispense with those symbols of grief altogether than to (Uaplay them where they are totally out of plaee.
