James Lauder, of Glenelg.had three lambs worried recently. Mr. F. Munro, who sold the Hanover Post newspaper recently, has purchased the Orangeyille Advertiser. The total membership of the A. 0. U. W. on April 1st was 119.089. The Wiarton Echo has entered on its fifth year of publication with fair prospects for continued success, it is a tony, spicy shet. There are two cheese factories in full oper- ation, one at Wareham and the other at Badjero. The Presbyterians of Maxwell had com- munion services on Sabbath, July 1st, the attendance was very large, although each aisle was filled with seats, many had to re- main outside. A large driving shed is being built in connection with the church. The little Episcopal Methodist Church at Badjero, is to be opened at last, on Sabbath,. July the 8th. Rev. Mr. Dowler, of Maxwell, is leaying after a stay of of one year, and Mr. Shaw takes his place. Mr. Luke Hall, is also leav- ing Feversham and Mi' Dobsin has taken his place. Feversham mill property was sold last week by Mr. J. Hacjilton, to Rev. Mr. Hall and brother for st),7oO. Mr. W. L. B. HamUn, Maxwell, has sold out to J. Stinsou Co. who were recently burned out. Mr. John Miller, of Osprey, has bought a lot in Maxwell, and is preparing to erect a building for a store. It is thought Hamlin has something to do with it though he is bound not to start store for 5 years. Mr. J. Kertou, has also sold his general store, to Mr. Jas. Osbcrn of this Tp. A few more changes and we will have a new staff of business men. Mr. Richard Davidson, of the centre line» attempted suicide last Thursday morning by- cutting his throat with a- razor, he was found shjrtly afterwards, having bled profusely he was about uuconsious when found. lr. Kerr was promptly summoned, and dressed th» wound and the patient is now recovering, ha has been iil and taking medicine. A terrific thunder storm passed over this place about seven o'clock Tuesday evening, the rain came down in torrents accompanied by heavy wind, the hghtning struck a tree behind Goode's store shattering it from top^ to bottom, two men were loading butter at the store and one of them and a horse which was hitched to the tvagon which was being loaded were knocked down by tbe soma tliunder bolt, no seiipus harm was done however. Our brave valnateers retnmed from camp Taesday, they received special mention while at Niagara, by tbe officers and also in the daily papers as being a credit to Gra]i|Co X)ominion day was celebrated here by viri- ons, sports and games, a huge number were in town and a pleasant d^y spent.
