I feel a duty incumbent ijpon me to explain to my patrons why they did not receive their Fruit Trees this spring On the evening be- fore the day upon which I was going to the Nursery to fill the orders given me. I was treacherously and brutaly beaten and kicked in the Revere Hotel of Markdale, so much so that when I was in a position to proceed to business, the season had so far advanced that Fruit Trees could not be taken up. I trust this explanation will be sufficient to the public for the disappointment. My own pecuniary loss is considerable, but trust to be able this fall to make amends for the delay. S. L. M. Luke.
