On Thursday night last a thief en* tered the house of James Graham, Con. 10, Sullivan, and stole $17. He had been on the lookout for Mr. Graham's money for some time, as he had called seyeral tia:es previously to enquire if Mr. Graham had disposed of some cattle he had to sell. For- tunately Mr. G. had paid out nearly $200 the day previous. The thief was up to his business, as he is said to tiave applied a handkerchief satur- ated with chloroform to Mrs. Graham's face, and while she was insensible searched out the money. Mr. G. was in another room and knew nothing of the robbery till it was over. â€" 0, S. Advertiser. ART OF LEAVE-TAKING. Not all have learned the fine art of leave-taking in an appropriate man- ner. When you are about to depart, do 60 at once, gracefully and politely, with no dallying. Don't say, "it is about time I was going," then settle back and talk on aimlessly for another ten minutes. Some people have just such a tiresome habit. They will eyen rie, and stand about the room in various attitudes, keeping their hosts also standing, and then by an effort succeeded in getting as far as the hall, when a new thought strikes them. They brighten up visibly and stand tor a few minutes longer, say- ing nothing of importance, but keep- ing every one in a restless, nervous state. After the door is opened the prolonged leave-taking begins, and everybody in general and particular is invited to call. What a relief when the door is finally closed I There is no need of being offensively abrupt, but when you are ready to go â€" go. EENEWEDFLOODS.
