Some call this part of our paper "The Students' Conscience" and some call it '.The Cockeyed Corner," but whatever you like to call it, we hope- that you will enjoy reading it and get something out of it. The less you get out of it, that js sensible, the more certain you can be that ed- ucation pays, â€" and after all that is what we students are trying to prove â€" that there are too many sensible people in this world, and not enough happy ones. In addition to making people (not teachers) happy, we stand for the rights of the student: to get a ride in the bus in the mopn- ing, to get fifty marks on any exam- ination, to fall ift love with the kid Silling in iruni, oi liini, ana w nev... have to go home with more than two books in hie schoo'bag at night. If you keep these things in mind when you read our paper, you will enjoy it, allright. GRADE 9 Pat and Emily really have it bad. We hope it isn't contagious. Gwen certainly is popular with the oppos- ite sex. What is the recipe, Gwen? Loma will just have to stop making eyes at the boys, as it b becoming serious. It's too bad that the bicycles weren't running, isn't it, Joan and George? It's too bad Norm didn't go to this schoo', Bonnie! The roads are very slippery to Kimberley. Too bad Mary Jane! Sherlock Holmes, our school detc tive, i.s now looking for another after-school date. What happened, Hodg-ins ? Too bad there weren't chairs in the little room^ The table is rather uncomfortable, Shaw. lona Wood seems to have charmed Bi^ Bob from Second Fonn. What about Little Bob in Firit? You're keeping rather late hours lately. Bob! You've got to get used to it! GRADE 10 Bob seems to be losing quiet a bit of sleep over a certain red head, but he catches up on it in the mornings when he doesn't go to school. We have a remedy for our 9 o'clock sleepinegi. Atfter McTavish walks up stairs we are all awake. Our Joan has quite a ci'ush on a certain boy in fii-st form. Watch out, Gordon! There must be something very inter- esting in "the little room," because Plester works terribly hard to get in there. Some morning, Jack, we will surprise the class and have our homework done when we get to school. GRADE 11 Bryce Benson seenril; to have a hard time hiding his head when the teachers get angry. For some rea- son Irene has a hard time keeping her books together. That gal's got a lively tongue in her head, too. You should see it shoot out and her face get red when she is corrected for using it at the wrong time. McGee has had a very sore toe since he wa.s playing football with that schoolbag in Grade d room. The green Geog- raphies are receiving conlsiderable hard usa/ge these days and not just from Grade 9 students either. Turn- ey wants to be careful or he will be expelled, eh .M'r. Goheen ? Too much of that rc-headed stuff. GRADE 12 We, the great historians of Fourth Foiim, are certainly the best. I mean in every class but History. "Thuriton, go in the little room! Miss Stauffer, face the front! Miss Mc- Cracken, take the front seat, please." Of course you know where these â- .-. a com.- fro;;;! It docs ;,,•'. â- ^â- • some, don't you think? One would think We were mere children of the pulblic schooL But how i.> Thurston expected to know his Hiscory when he spends his tine lying on the Moor of the little room. We all seem to be improving in Latin, don't you think, Mi's. Mercer? I mean, Afhen wa do our homework. Of course, we ail ii'.-'e .Algebra, don't we, Mrs. Goheen? .A.n'J w; really do enjoy our ai^gum^ntH in English per- iod, especially Marion, when you said your prayers ihe n slit before. Em- ma was at Young People's Friday night, but it must have been late wh(;n she coiildn't get up '.hi' ri xt mooning un'il u >on. We do wish Shirley would make I'P her mind. But then you do have a good time, don't you Shirley? .â- \nu Blanche, we know you are re&'Ay lonesome, but there will be othei skating- carnivals. You do remember don't you? Evelyn and Roy are still fighting, but I guess they like it. So go to it! Gwen, do you have a boy friend? If so, let ui? know. We like variety. We think that Barbara will be a farmer's wife. She hasn't quite made up her mind yet. Betty, how do you do it. Week ends really prove profitable for you, eh? How's Don after that? Local and Personal Mrs. K. G. Betts spent a few days last week visiting in Toronto. IMIr. E. Hasg of Walkerlon 'peni the week end at his home in town. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Guy cf To- ronto visited the fir.st of the week with Mrs. Sarah Guy and Jean. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Duncan spent several days last week visiting with friends in Toronto. Mr. Jmv Thurston of Pickering spent the first of the week at his parental home. Mr. and Mrs. Melville Holroyd of Macrorie, Sask., visited last weelt with Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Duncan and F. W. Nicholson and other friends'. Mrs. O. iS. McTavish and Mrs. John Nuhn visited at Oshawa for several ^«iys la^t v,'cw*i. ^f^r. ^ul.;. v.c..*. U^ Oshawa on Saturday and Mrs. Nuhn returned home with him on Monday- Mrs. McTavish had returned Friday. Mi.-:s Marie Phillips was taken to Markdale hospital suffering with an attack of aPpendicits, but "an opera- tion was not performed. She is back again at her position cr. '.he switch- board at the local "Bell" office. United Church Notes GRADE 12 Doug. Falconer: Open the door, Richard, and let me out of the little room. Clement: (Sounds like Influence talking) Come on out. Influence. Wanted â€" A wife suitable for a jninistev. Apply to Rev. D. McLeod. We feel sorry for poor wee Jean Co (because she c^n't get home week ends, but "absence makes the heart grow fonder." Nancy would have no trouble ans- wering English questions if she only knew the answers. Lost â€" Sixty golden minutes of time in the vicinity of "the little room." For Pete's sake "les trouvez vitement." GOALIE STOPS THEM EVEN AS SPECTATOR Don Banks, who minds the net foi Flesherton is due for a citation from the as.sociation of goalkeepers for pel fnrmance beyond the call of duty â€" unwittingly or thcrwise. Ai a spectator at the Markdale- Dundalk tilt at Dundalk Wednesday evening of last week, Don was standing along the boards in the vicinity of where a Puck disappeared after it cleared the boards. After a futile search, a new puck wan tossed in and the game continued. A short time before the end of the game. Banks put his hand in the pocket of his coat and â€" you gaiessed it â€" there was the misf^ing puck! Small Advertisements bring quiclt results. HORSES WANTED A.
