Little Miss Hazel Speers, Toronto, has arrived to sipend the summer holidays with iMr. and Mrs. Milton Bannon. Tuesday evening. June 25, the ladies of the W- A. held a social evening at the church. Outdoor games were enjoyed until dark, when everyone entered the church to hear an entertainment of local talent. A special feature of the evening was the calling of Rev. Dr. Thomson and Mrs. Thomson to the platfoi'm. Mrs. Russell Patterson read the address and Mrs. Wilfred Gallagher made the presentation of a "Friendship Circle" quilt to the highly esteemed couple, who had given so much of their services to iboth the church and W. A. work of Inistioge. The quilt, incidentally, bore the name of ea<ih meniiber of the 'Society. Mr. and Mrs. Thomson, although taken com- pletely by isurprise, thanked the ladies for theSr gift. Lunch brought the gathering to a close. Moore a patient in Markdale hospital (luring the past week taking penecil- len treatment for a mastoid trouble. Glad to know that Mr. Moore was able to return home Sunday, having re.sponded well to the treatment. Mr- Walter Acheson and Mr. Jas. Bat- chelor are .showing some improve- ment following their heart condition and accident, respectively. We hope much better health lies in store for L'ach of these men in the very near future. Haying operations are progressing favorably, with much of the hay now stored in the barns. Mr. and iMrs. Jim Laughlin and daughter, Raise Marie, of London holidayed for a week with his sister. The Baptist Sunday School picnic was held Friday aftej-noon in Akitt's bush, when races and games were much enjoyed and a bountiful picnic supper was served. A most enjoy- aible time wag spent by' all. Mi's- Nelson Osborne and daugh- ters of Owen Sound visited for a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Russell. Mrs. Mary Laughlin of Feversham is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Wm. McMaster. A large number from here attend- ed the Rotary carnival in Markdale Thursday night and report a goon me. They enjoyed the floor show presente<l by Ru'ss Creighton and his entertainers. Mr. Fred Partridge and sister, Irs. Clifford McMaster, spent the. week end with their sister. M'rs. Mrs Ken Walker, at Gait. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Tulloch of To- ronto were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Newell and enjoyed 'some fish- ing in the district.
