Master Jack Phillips of Toronto has spent two months' holidays with Mr and Mrs. Wes Smith and family. Mr. A. Sherd, sawyer here, spurn the week end at his home at Sing- hampton. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Williams of To- ronto and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Mc- Master of Wareham visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ehvood Partridge. Miss Marilyn Smith of Flesherton is holidaying at the home of her uncle, Mr. Wes Smith. We are sorry to report Mrs. Jim Hussell in a serious condition, but hope to hear of some improvement oon. Mr. Thos. Whitmore of Durham, who has been laid off work for a -week, visited friends here and at Ceylon on Friday. He had his hand severely injured in the factory where he works. McKee of Hani ilton visited recently with the form- er's brother, John McKee, and Mrs McKee. The Fourth Line Red Cross branch met at the home of Mrs. Edna Rus- sell, with a good attendance. A quilt was completed and severa articles of sewing handed in. It was decided to have a dance at Maxwel hall on August 20th. Mr. and Mrs. Matt. Conron of To- ronto visited with Mr. and Mrs. W Jamieson. CENTRE LINE Tpr. Victor Osborne of 26 Army -Tank Battalion Camp Borden spent the past four days with his parents and other friends here after taking a four weeks' course in Hamilton and two week course in London for a driver mechanic. Miss Kathleen Jenkinson returned to l.er home in Collingwood last week after spending a week wit" her freind Jean Lyons here. Mr. and Mrs. Ang;us Tuohy of Mea- ford are spending a couple of weeks with the latter's sister, Mrs. Florence Lyons. Pr. Robt. Morton and eldest son of Pittsburg have been visiting the Dr's. parents Mr. and Wm. Morton. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Osborne and Victor spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Badgerow. Miss Jean Lyons is holidaying at Drayton with her cousin Miss Betty Simmons for a couple of weeks. Quite a number from this point went to Markdale on the 12th of August. Haying has been finished at last and harvest is right in. Some have oats cut and drawn in, while some are threshing wheat. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Genoe and Miss Dorothy, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. C. Martin, were guests of Tpr. and Mrs. Wm. Scorer at Camp Bor- den on Sunday. Dorothy returned to Toronto Sunday evening. Janette Haas and Vivian Long of Flesherton are visiting with the for- mer's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pinkerton, 8th line. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Davidson, 8th line, recent newly-weds. Mrs. Davidson was the former Irene Dinsmore and a former teacher in the school here. Master Gordon Stewart has return- ed from visiting in Toronto. Mr. Don Carson of Toronto spent the week end at the Stewart home here. His wife, who has spent the past week with her parents, returned home with him. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Boyce, Fred and Jean, also Audrey Badgerow, of Nottawa visited in the village on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Williams Jr. of Toronto visited friends at Rock Mills and here over the week end. Mr. Murray Williams of Toronto spent a week's holidays with friends in this vicinity.
