Miss Lillian Buchanan visited with friends in Owen Sound last week. Miss Mickie Kidd has returned to Toronto after spending the summer vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Lundy Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. J. Adams and son, John, of Toronto spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Hutchin- son and Beverley. Mr. John Buchanan accompanied Mrs. IWm. Buchanan to Toronto and will visit friends in the city. Miss Phyllis Lee spent Sunday with friends in Owen Sound. Mr. and Mrs. Burnett of Mark- dale and Mr. Garnet Blair of Toronto were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Graham and Miss May Graham. Mrs. Summers has returned to the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Bowles, having spent several weeks in the G. and M. Hospital at Owen Sound convalescing after a major operation. Mrs. W. J. F. Hutchinson spent a day in Thornbury. School reopened on Tuesday morn- ing with Mr. H. J. Thompson in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Will Hincks of Cey- lon were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. John Bowles. Harvest is completed and quite a bit of the threshing has been done. There were no less than four ma- chines in this community last week. MAXWELL Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Morrison are in Toronto attending the exhibition. Rev. S. Elliott and family have returned from their vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ros^s visited last week. School opened this week with Miss Kathleen Morrison as teacher. A large number of friends of Mr. and Mrs. 'John Seeley met in the Orange Hall on Friday evening, Sep- tember second, and tendered them a shower and dance and also to extend their best wishes, and welcome to Maxwell. At a suitable time Miss Kathleen Morrison read an address and Mr. Mel Sled made the presen- tation of a lovely set of cream and green graniteware. Mr. and Mrs. Seeley also received many other beau- tiful gifts. Mr. and Mrs. jBeeley thanked their friends in well chosen words and a veiy pleasant evening was enjoyed. There will be no church service at Inistoge the next two Snndays on account of Proton Station and Beth- el anniversary services respectively. Our anniversary services will be ar- ranged for Thanksgiving Sunday as usual. Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Lockhart of Detroit with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Lockhart, of Clint- on are renewing acquaintances. We are especially pleased to pee that Mr. Jas. Lockhart is able to be around again even if not yet fully recovered from his accident last summer. Sacrament of the Lord's Eupper will be observed in St. Andrew's church next Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brown and Marjorie and Mr. and Mrs. R. Law- rence of Durham were visitors last week at the home of Mr. H. Tucker. Mr. and Mrs. Blair were visitors last week at the home of Angus Mc- Lachlan. Messrs.
