WHITEâ€" LITTLE A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnized at the United Church par- sonage, Maxwell, on Saturday, Sep- tember 11th, at high noon, with Rev. S. Elliott officiating, when Eveljni Bernice, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Little, Proton, became the bride of Elvin Russell WTiite, eld- est son of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. White of Proton. The bride looked lovely in naonet blue chiffon dress with matching ac- cessories. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, where a dainty wedd- ing dinner was sei-ved, the dining room being decorated with pink and white streamers and white bells. After the reception the bridal couple left on a motor trip to Toronto- Niagara and Windsor, the bride Moved to Toronto Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Robertson left the fii-st of the week for their new home in Toronto, after disposing of their property in Flesherton to Mrs. C. R. Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Robert- son have been residents of Flesher- ton for the past nine years and were highly regarded by a host of friends. They were first class citizens, eager to assist in any good cause and the village is sorry to lose them. Best wishes follow them to their new home with the hope that Mr. Robertson's haalth will greatly improve. .It MIGHt BE VOL': -Take a good "look" at the picture on page four â€" it's a verbal one, but it travelling in black with white access- I tells the story just the same. It is a gruesome picture â€" and one that happens every day on our streets and highways. This accident occur- red because the driver was careless. He died â€" his face a grotesque cari- cature with his skull split open like a cocoanut, his chest a gaping hole where he had been stabbed by the jagged steering column. His wife was less fortunate â€" she lived Local Schools Will | Open September 27 1 Dr. J. E. Milne, M.O.H. for Flesher- ton aiul Artemesia township, has an- nounced that Flesherton schools will remain closed until Monday, Septem- ber 27th, if no further outbreak of infantile paralysis occur. There have not been any new cases for a week and a half. It appears that Ihe epi- demic i;i this locality has been suc- cessfully combatted, but the parents are still urged to observe the same caution as in the past few weeks. Wonderful Sympathy During the past week the people of this entire district have shown in no uncertain manner the sympathy which they feel for Mrs. C. R. Wood in the arreat trouble she has experienced this summer. Canvassers went around and about $;500 in cash was collected, oesides a quantity of household nt- •essities for her new home to which <he moved on Monday. It was a wonderful practical display of sym- ,)alhy that is a credit to the humani- arian impulses of our citizens.
