These are therefore to give notice that unless the said taxes, together with all lawlul costs and charges be sooner paid, I shall on Friday the First day of November, 1929, at the hour of two o'clock in the afternoon ai the Court House in the City of Owen Sound, in the said County, proceed to sell by public auction the said lands or as much thereof as may be suffi- cient to dischare cuch arrears of '.axes and costs and charges incurred. lovely; there is no waste land, ana in the two latter countries there is] a great deal of well-kept forest â€" , even the twips arc picked up by girla, and v.oinen, tied into neat bundles ana used for firewood. The fields are very small; they are not fenced oft from each other, and with the dif- ferent ci-ops it gives the country n curiou3 checker-board appearance. Hops arc a leading crop in South Ger- many, end on the same ground some other c â- op, which looked like turnips, Cominpr alone from Paris to Prague â€" called Praha by the natives of the city â€" I thought I would find no one who would understand English, but almost all the travellers on the first clas.; 'rain, called the Orient expresij, weie English or American. On the journey two customs officials exam- ined our luggage and passport. Three languages, three kinds of money were U3ed, and three varieties of food ser- ve i. How can Europe unde'rstanH herself when -she speaks with a doze:: tongues? Pajrue is a beautiful city; the ca- hedral, the castle old home of the kinps, now occupied by the President of the republic and Minister of Ex- terna', Affairs are very bearitiful. In spite of the size of the building the seaMng capacity is not great. The Women's International Lea'guc For Peace held the Congress in a res- ident school owned Uy the Czech Farmers' Co-operative.s. It i-3 a large and well-equipped building. Women from 28 coountries convened here for six days. They were a re- markable group, the most prominent of which was the international Pres- ident, Jane A<!ams, of Chicago. It is hard to say wherein lies the ic- markaLle power of this woman. She is devotedly loved and can hold to- gether people who, without her, would see o.:ly disagreement and discord.. She had studied world problems clos- ely for many years â€" but with all her knowledge she parades none; she is motherly, witty and wise. Enip.iy Freundlich, member of the .Au;tralirn Parliament, is an econ- omic expert. She was the only woman Government represecitative at the World Economic Conference.
