The nom- inations resulted in the old council being nominated, also three new men. Ml-. Howard McAuley, Mr. A. Gilchrist and Mr. George Brackenbury, the two latter retired. The Reeveship nom- inees were T. W. Findlay and W. H. Thurston, the retiring Reeve. The only Council member to qualify was Mr. McAuley, the old members tak- ing the ground that they did not care for the job, and as there would be an election they did not wish to stand. Mr. McAuley is therefore the only member of the Council elected by acclamation, and the contest on Mon- day next will therefore be for Reeve- ship only. Don't forget to go out on Monday and cast your vote. It will be necessary to hold a new nominat- ion for three councillors, but this can- not be done without six days notice.
