THUHSTON, Editor WILL WE ALL FLY In view of recent aciiievementa in the air the question is aslced. Will the time ever come when human flying: will be perfectly safe? Who knows?; Thinic of the advances which have' been made since Barnum Jirougrht [ Donakl?f :i around with his show, and that waf k>3 than 5J years ago. It is! within the bound of possibility 'that our successors on this planet may for- 1 sake "fli>fers" for individual planes! and go careering around the sky toj their heart's content. Our forfathers were really asked to accept on faith propositions almost as unlikely, to the great alarm of many flier fellows. For example leas than a hundred years ago the school board of the town of Lancaster, Ohio, were requested by an organization of "ad\Tinced readers" to permit the use of the school room in which to consider the then momen- tous question of whether or not rail- waj^s were practicable or desirable. The reply of the sapient educations is illuminating "you are welcome" | they told the applicants to use the , schoolroom to debate all proper quest- ions in, but .such thing as railroads and telegraphs are impossibilities j and rank infidelity. There is nothing j in the word of God about them. If God had de.sired that his intelligent creat- ures ahould travel at the frightful rate of fifteen miles an hour by steam he would have foretold it through his Holy prophets. It is a device of Satin to lead immortal souls down to Hell. There ia however, not much greater absurdity in this declaration of these wise school managers than is to be found in the constitutions of our Twentieth century cities of their fell- ows who believe in progress. The Can- adians of 2027 may be a nation of fliers ^jid may have much hilarity over the skeptism of their fore- fathers. We'll rob and stale and go to jail, â€" We will, we will. It was stated in court that the pri>- onerd made their livinir by robbery and having regard to the ballad they were sent to prison for six month*. • • • It is well to remember that if we do not make progress in life we must make room for some able fellow who will. • * * The Prince of Wales, speaking in Calgary caused much hilarity by con- fessing that he had learned to know that the difference between "rawnche" and "ranch" was the difference be- tween a farm that paid and a farm that did not pay. Namely he added, amid much laughter, that he made no confession which class his possession was in.
