Rae Of Harkaway Was Accident Victim On Thursday Small Advertisement s BREAD WHEN YOU THINK OF BREAD YOU NATUR- ALLY THINK OF THE BEST PLACE TO GET IT. Our Bread is made from the following ingredients: Lake of The Woods full Manitoba Flour Pure Cane Sugar Shortening Diamalt Windsor Salt Fleischmann Yeast Properly blended together to make the FINEST LOAF PROCURABLE F, Pinder, Flesherton HIGH GRADE SCHOOL •LLIOTT, A. C. Kae, a well known resident of Harkaway district, was killed at Markdale on Thursday evening of last week. Mr. Rae, accompanied by his son, was driving west on Main street go- ing into Glenelg township on business. Owing to a rather heavy snowfall at the time neither occupant of the car saw the approaching train or heard the whistle and the electric bell which is installed at the crossing until they were so close that it was impossible to stop the car because of the slippery condition of the road. Knowint; that an impact was imminent, Mr. Rae with a wonderful presence of mind swung the car to the left, turning thereby a broadside of his car paral- lel with the train. Unfortunately, the hind end skidded too far, resulting in the last coach of the train catch- ing the back of the car, driving it against the fence and platform, crum- bling it like matchwood, throwing the driver and his son out. Both were hurt, although it was not thought seriously. They were taken to Mr. Jos. Dennison's, where, about 7 o'- clock, Mr. Rae died from shock or brain injury. Dr. Bibby, coroner, of Flesherton, was notified, who empanneled a jury and, after viewing the body, an ad- journment was made until Friday af- ternoon of this week. I Young and Alexander Sts. MacLeod's on the fourth line on December 11th. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Archie Stewart, Mrs. Allie Muir presided very accept- ably. After the opening exercises considerable business was attended to. Mrs. Alex. Carson was chosen delegate to the Provincial Convention this week, to replace Mrs. Arcihe Stewart, who is ill. It was decided that at each meeting a gift of five cents should be made to a fund to remember the sick, by flowers, fruit, letters or as seemed best to the committee of four ai>- pointed. Both the president and acting secretary acknowledged with thanks gifts of fruit received during illness. Questions on citizenship were read and answered by five mem- bers. Mrs. Dan Campbell read an excellent paper on Woman and the School, and it was followed by dis- cussion. The women expressed them- selves as eager to help the schools to make it a comfortable and happy place for teacher and piqiils. Many promised to attend the school meet- ing this year. Mrs. Dick Wihttaker gave a humorous recitation, which was much enjoyed. The National Anthem was sung and an abundant lunch served. The next meeting is to ue held at the home of Mrs. Geo.
