A very pleasant social evening was held under the auspices of the Young People's Society in the school room of the Methodist church on Monday evening. The feature of the evening was an impromptu debate on the sub- ject resolved "that the automobile has been beneficial to the church." Miss Emily Acheson captained the affirm- ative side, being assisted by Mrs. Murray, F. J. Thurston and Wesley Armstrong. Miss Mildred Caswell led the negative side with Elsie Cas- well, Kendall Boyd and Albert Buch- anan as colleagues. The judges gave the decision for the affirmative.
