Ho wasa victim of the German gas poisoa- ing, and with an honorable discharge, re- turned home to recuperate. He is a modest young man, but when properly drawn out can tell some awful tales of the horrible war now devastating so much of Europe and affecting the whole world. Lie is not in good fighting oonditiou now, but would like to return to the scone of action if sutliciently recovered to do so. Mr. Sam Squire of Derby, who called on us Saturday, informed us that one of his neighbors has fifteen hundred bags of first class potatoes this year, ai.d this when half or two-thirds of his neighbors' potaloe.5 rotted. This was done by spraying with bluestone luring the grow- ing season. This fifteen hundred bags was the product off fifteen acres, and A letter received from Sergt. T. Davis from England describes the manner in which he was wounded. The wounds, however, were not so serious as the shook. Sertit. Davis had gone into a large dugout which had just been cum pleted and not yet occupied, to write a letter. This dugout was covered with steel girders, oak plauk and five fei.t (>f brick and sank baijs, but this did not prevent a high explosive German 6 inch shell from blowing it to smithereens. When Tom came to he found himself some little distance away. His face was cuf, supposedly with the debris, but he was able to walk back and examine the ruins.
