Council met for the transaction of business; members all present, reeve in the chair. Minutes of former meeting read and approved. The chairman of the Board of health presented his report. Galbraith--Murray,--That Thos. Young be refunded $1.25 being an overcharge in his taxes.--Carried. Shute--Murray,--That Ed. Sargent be refunded $4.00 of his taxes on account of his mill being burned.--Carried. Galbraith--Murray,--That the petition of E. O. Merium and others wishing to be detached from S.S. No.1 and added to No.11 be laid over for further consideration and all the parties interested be notified.--Carried. Howey--Shute,--That Patrick Hamilton by paid $40.00 for right of way across lot 89, con.2, E.T.S.R. by him furnishing deed for same to the council.--Carried. Murray--Howey,--That the account of Dr. [Halsted] be paid for inspecting school house No.7, the same to be placed against the section.--Carried. Shute--Murray,--That the rate of 5 mills on the dollar be struck on all the rateable property both real and personal on lots 19, 20 and [21] for school purposes, and that the collector be sent to collect the same.--Carried. Murray--Howey,--That the rate of No.6 section be struck on lots [22] and 23 for school purposes the collector to collect as above.--Carried. Galbraith--Shute,--That widow Sinclair receive $5.00 from the council.--Carried. Galbraith--Howey,--That Mr. Shute's report in reference to Lonsways deviation be laid over for further consideration.--Carried. Murray--Howey,--That a surveyor be sent to survey the above mentioned deviation in order to find correct line betwixt lots 42 and 43, con.3, E.T.S.R., and that the party or parties in fault pay expences.--Carried. Galbraith--Shute,--That Jas. Kirk be refunded 55c., being over charged in his taxes.--Carried. Galbraith--Shute,--That Cochrane McCauly be paid $1.80 for brushing and claying road.--Carried. Shute--Howey,--That the Judge order for the use of the Chatsworth hall be paid, and that the clerk notify the Sullivan tp pay over to our treasurer the sum of $5.00 being half the amount.--Carried. Howey--Shute,--That the following persons be exempted from paying taxes this year: Ruth King, Mrs. Graham and Jackson.--Carried. Galbraith--Murray,--That By-law No.7 be read 1, 2 and 3 times and engrossed on the minutes.--Carried. Shute--Murray,--That we tender our congratulation tot he reeve for the manner in which he has conducted the office as Reeve this year.--Carried. Galbraith--Shute,--That we adjourn Sine Die.
