(/From the Dundalk Herald./) The Mormons at Riverview are meeting with keen opposition. The people are incensed against their doctrines as announced by them, and are indignant that their cultured and christianized community should be invaded by such heterodox and false teachers and teachings. Week before last quite a /seance/ was held at the Grand River above the village. Three candidates were to have been babtized (?) but only one put in an appearance. The others backed out. Such a scene as occurred was indescribable. Barking and dipping of dogs, expostulations and insults by the preacher (?), cheers from some present were things that occurred. Report says that some one not a candidate was in danger of a severe ducking. Last week as a party of Mormons were driving out a barricade was thrown up by some parties on the road, but when the parties who did it considered the danger that might happen in the darkness, it was thrown down; but avail was had to the use of rotten eggs, which were thrown freely at the "Saints" by some party or parties unknown. Such a sight as the day light presented next morning when eyes were fastened upon occupants, equipage and equines and earthly wardrobes is simply indescribable. The community is resolved that the sect shall have no position or progress here, and it has the whole strength of the model and religious people at its back although, perhaps, the measures used for its extirpation, is not sanctioned by the latter.--[Truth.
