saturday af ternoon nov 7th in the base ment of their church mr and mrs norman hisey and daughter coleen of ballan- trae were thanksgiving guests of mr and mrs keith steckley miss isabel husband and miss lillian pritchard of osh- awa were thanksgiving visit ors with mr and mrs al rol ertson mr and mrs jim reynolds of north bay were thanksgiv ing visitors with his parents mr and mrs cliff reynolds the october meeting of the wms was held last thurs- day afternoon in the sunday school room with the presid ents group in charge of the program the second chapter of the new study book was taken by resumed quilting at the close of the meeting the missionary monthly renewal for another year was mention ed and the wms members are catering to the joint church boards hot supper in the ss room on friday of this week mrs d pugh returned homei on monday after enjoying a visitation among relatives and friends in oshawa and toroiv to during the past couple of weeks rev h- lackey preached anniversary services last sunday afternoon and even ing on a former circuit with the minister from enniskiuen occupying the claremont pul pit for the evening service mr and mrs roy robertson from seattle washington spent the weekend visiting with his brother mr and mrs al robertson whom he had not seen for fifteen years mr and mrs norman linton and daughter mildred motored to belmont last sunday to at tend the centennial anniver- sarv services in mrs lintons old home church just previ ous to the morning service new front doors on the church were unveiled and dedicated by a sister mrs decorated with autumn flowers for the ceremony performed by rev dj lute miss mary niddery hampton played the music and mr bob craig brother of the bride was soloist given in marriage toy her fa ther the bride chose a floor length gown of chantilly lace over ivory slipper satin with stand up collar and long sleev es the full skirt featured a front insert of net tiers her finger tip veil was caught right mood for the evening as the parade moves upstairs the group will be broken into groups and costumes will be judged toy a competent iboaixt of judges who will have no id ea what they are judging after the judging and aw arding of a stack of prizes there will toe skits one or two appropriate movies and per haps the parade of the wooden dummies who knows in the past a number of lo cal folks anniversary on monday october 19th mr and mrs gm forsyth of claremont will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary born east of claremont mr forsyth lived on the former edgar ward farm before mov ing into the village he has had a wide experience in mu nicipal life having spent nine years as a claremont village trustee and nine years on the pickering township council in 192 he was appointed war den of ontario county and in 1927 he held the office of chairman on the county road commission mr forsyth was also a claremont school board trustee for 20 years in 1927 mr forsyth replac ed the late adam spears as reeve of pickering township a position which he held for a three year term he was suc ceeded by mr luther middle- ton mr and mrs forsyth will ce lebrate the occasion quietly at their home in township hall at brougham this friday night euchre commences at s o clock and the lercky ticket will be drawn on the radio during the evening everyone come and have a good time a number from here attend ed the two games of ball at brooklin on thanksgiving day between falcortbridge and brougham the visiting team winning in the forenoon and brougham in the after- saturday afternoon mr and mrs h shea spent thanksgiving sunday with their daughter and son in law mr and mrs c reesor and family of toronto miss m sheppard of toron to who has been ill due to an attack of flu is now recupera ting at middleton took in the fowl supper at valentia on thanks giving day mr chas burows has toeen somewhat indisposed during the past few weeks due to an attack of shingles mr and mrs n banks of pickering called on mr and mrs m hamilton one day last week mr and mrs thos rickard and two little boys spent the weekend in brougham and took in markham fair mr and mrs ross knox ac companied by mr and mrs a hardy enjoyed a pleasant mo tor trip to buffalo and other american cities during the weekend congratulations to brough am ball team on winning the all ontario championship mrs r ford and daughter of highland creek visited her mother and sister mrs wh ellicott and mrs ravey on the holiday noon game making the latter team the winners in the all ontarios intermediate d championship the silo filling
