Terrace Bay Recreation Department Start a Ski Club Meeting _ An important meeting will be held in the conference room at the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. This meeting is for .all Schreiber and Terrace Bay cross- Country enthusiasts. The purpose of the meeting is to form a club. All levels of skiers are urged to attend. National Coaching Certification Level 1- Theory Coaching Clinic The Terrace Bay Recreation Department will be sponsoring a Level 1 Theory Coaching Clinic on February 12th, 13th and 14th, 1988. The N.C.C.P. is the 'coaching of coaches' program. It is an edu- cational learning program for coaches and is designed to make the reward of coaching that much better. The more the coaches get out of coaching the more their ath- letes will get out of their sport. This 14-hour program will be held at the recreation centre in Terrace Bay. THE SCHREIBER TORCH DAYS COMMITTEE 3542. Dance for Heart Once again, the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be presenting a Dance for Heart Program in Terrace Bay. This is a one-evening event where the participants recruit sponsors to donate towards their endeavor of doing an aerobic three-hour program. The participants are awarded prizes for the monies collected for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Watch future issues of the Terrace Bay/Schreiber News for more details. Power Skating The Terrace Bay Recreation Department is now accepting names for a Power Skating pro- gram. This program is open to youths aged seven to 12 years. Marcus Maeltoner will be the instructor. Classes for each age group will be half-hour durations. The first session will com- mence on February 7 and will conclude on Feb. 28. The times for this program will be on Sunday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. For registration call the office at 825-3542. Cross-country skiing There are openings for regis- tration in these programs for those who wish to learn how to care for their cross-country skiis and to also learn the basic instruc- tion on skiing. Youth (aged 7-12 years) will have their instruction on February 20; the adult program will take place on February 21. OPP's R.LD.E. Toronto- Ontario Provincial Police officers checked 369,403 drivers during the Christmas/New Year anti-impaired driving cam- paign and charged a total of 1,683 motorists with alcohol-related criminal code of Canada driving offenses in R.I.D.E. checks and general patrols. In comparison to last year, more vehicles were stopped in the recent seasonal R.I.D.E. cam- paign, yet fewer impaired drivers were found behind the wheel. During the 1986/87 OPP Christmas/New Year program, police checked 357,167 drivers and charged 1,812 of them with alcohol-related driving offenses in R.I.D.E. checks and general patrols. "Fewer 12-hour licence suspen- sions were issued during the year's Christmas/New Year R.I.D.E. program- 1,999 suspen- sions, compared to 2,938 12-hour suspensions issued the previous year. Although the eight-week Christmas/New Year R.I.D.E campaign is now over, the year- round OPP R.I.D.E. program. wall continue throughout 1988. Employed by Kimberly- Clark in Terrace Bay, mem- ber of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 109. Survived by her husband Earl, sons Danny & Darren and daughter Julie. Brother Bud of Toronto, sisters Brenda of Terrace Bay, Karen of Vancouver & Debbie of Schreiber. Also survived by nieces , nephews, Aunts and Uncles. Predeceased by her parents Bill & Eileen Lidkea. Funeral mass was held on Saturday, January 23, 1988 at 3:30 p.m. from Holy Angels Roman Church in Schreiber. Internment in the Schreiber Cemetery.- If friends so desire, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciat- ed.
