They entertained a group from Osgoode and Morewood who helped to celebrate the first year's activities. The Russell Seniors were busy as well as successful with Weekly Card parties, enjoyable Bus and Boat Trips and an outstanding Bazaar and Tea. The Centre is in the basement of the Anglican Church Hall, with wall-to-wall carpet, Russell Review flourscent lighting, modern kitchen facilities, a pool table for the men folk. Capable ladies show their ability in sewing, quilting and all types of fancy work. You do not have to be 65 years to be with us. You are welcome! We are now approaching the festive season. A letter of apology was received by the Chairman, from the Red Cross Water Safety Society regarding cancellation and date changing of examiners. It was felt that the letter should be published as a formal apology to the parents and children who were inconvenienced by these happenings. Carole August 25, 1976 Dear Mr. Roger Ruest: I would like to apologize on behalf of the Red Cross Water Safety Service to yourself, your pool staff and particularily to the children and parents within the Russell Community Pool Pro- gram for any inconvience that may have been caused as a result of the numerous changes of the exam date. I realize that such changes leave many children disappointed and their parents frustrated. The society depends upon qualified volunteers to conduct examinations. Although it rarely happens, sometimes a volunteer does not live up to their commitment, as was the case, and consequently, the whole program, as well as the society's image, suffers. However, despite drawbacks, the strength of the Red Cross Water Safety Service lies in its volunteers. Once again, I would like to say that I an sorry for any incon- venience that resulted from the confusion over exam dates, and I not only hope but will make sure that this does not occur in the future. Castor Valley Figure Skating Club Hockey Report Hello Hockey Fans. Here we are again, the middle of December and our Pee Wee (A) team really doing good. Out of 6 games, we have won, 3 and tied 2 for a total of 8 points and I think that Russell is in first place as of December 8th. The players on the "A" team are: Chris Baas, Tony Baas, Kevin O'Reilley, Ronnie Bouwhuis, Tim Paquette, Chris Laviolette, David Latimer, Paul Cochrane, Derek McLaren, Joe Flemming, David Flynn, Bill Bokker, Brian Graham, all under the coaching of Mike Miller and Gaetan Forgues. Now our '"'B'"' division of the Pee Wee team is doing very well with the boys winning their first game against Metcalfe by a score of 2-1. Our next game was won by Uplands.
