On October 3, 1975, six girl guides were packed and ready to begin a camp trip. At six o'clock Tena Weatherall, Karen Butler, Rosemary Wigcheren, Pamela Smit, Joan Boersma and Janice Saunders all met at Mrs. Nancy Scarth's farm in Osgoode. The tents, lats, and grease pits were all put up first; then a huge campfire was built and hot cocoa was made. Then we settled into our tents for the night. One of the tents was entertained by one of the guides doing some sleep-talking. The next day was also full of surprises. One of the guides got a surprise birthday cake at seven -o'clock Saturday morning. A hike was held at 2 o'clock down the Mighty Castor River. To top off the hike one of the guides fell into the river. After that there was a great amount of splashing, pushing and soaking each other. To end the day off, a blazing campfire, bid each one a good night. The next morning a great amount of frost surrounded us. The day went quite quickly with a small church service by a babbling brook. Before we knew it, it was time to go. We took down the tents, packed knapsacks and cleaned the campsites up. We then left and all admitted "it was a great weekend . The three girls receiving badges are Karen Butler, Camp Leader; Pamela Smit, Camp Leader; and Tena Weatherall, Campfire Leader.
