STORK CLUB: Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Conley Mo- Donald on the arrival of a brand new daughter at their house on Wednesday, September 5th. Congratulations and best wishes for many years of happy married life go to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith who were married in St. Andrews United Church on Seturday, September lst. Jim is employed as a Truck Driver with the Structural Crew. The young couple have taken up temporary residence at Terrace Bea- ch. Your roving reporter spent a few hours one day last week going around the Townsite looking over the new projects and if you don't think that Terrace Bay is coming into its own, all you have to do is go and take a look-see. The new Com- munity Church is well into the advanced stages and certainly will be an asset to the Community when completed. The new hospital is nearing completion in leaps and bounds and if the present pace is kept up, it should be completed before the end of October. The new sub-division west of the Hotel is making fast progress with some of the new houses already painted with their first coat. The new streets are well under vey with the installation of sewage, water and Hydro. South of the Hotel and new Hospital, a complete new roed has been built to provide access to the location of the new sewage disposal plant, made necessary by the oreation of a new sub-division. Already a vest ares has been cleared there also to allow a new tile-field to be installed. In addition to all of the fore-going, preparations are now being made to be ready for this winter. 28 new garages are being built. It is also expected that construction will start shortly on e building in the Townsite to house the new. Longlaec telephone equipment. This will most certainly be a moat welcome add- ition as it will mean that alot more telephones will be avail- able to Towniste residents. - 3 20 YEARS AGO - SEPTEMBER 13, 1956 A request from the Kimberly-Clark Corporation was recently received at Terrace Bay to send five pulp mill employees to the bleached sulphate mill in Mexico as trainers. The fol- lowing are going to Mexico for about six weeks: Jim Bradley, Roger Beaulieu, David Nelson, Brones Yonin, and Donald Whitley. The Terrace Bay team will be working with Thor Olsen in Mexico. Thor, another pulp mill foreman went to Mexico on August 19th. Miss Nancy Bisch has her mother, Mrs. Edgar Bisch of ¢ Oshawe visiting with her this week. Lillien and Frank Sechesky have returned from a month's holiday in Nova Scotia. They visited Lillian's parents Mr. and Mrs. Winton Langille of Issac's Harbour for approximately three weeks and with Lillian's sister, Mrs. John Cody of Halifax for a few days. % 15 YEARS AGO - SEPTEMBER 14, 1961 Bill Colborne, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Colborne of Terrace Bay, has just received word he placed among the top seventy-seven on written Science examinations in the Province of Ontario, earning for himself an all-expense three day trip to Guelph to attend a Science Seminar from October . 19th te 21st. Rev. J.M. Cano officiated at the marriage of Emlynn Fisher only daughter of George Fisher and John Barry Walsh, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. George Walsh, all of Schreiber. Betty and Forbes Cruickshank with their sons David, Jack, and Pat returned last week from a ten day visit with friends in Niegara Falls and Toronto district and a trip to the Exhibition. Donna. Adamo returned to Loretto Abbey in Toronto last weekend and will take her Grade thirteen this coming term. 10 YEARS AGO - SEPTEMBER 15, 1966 An Open House Tea was held in the Community Church Hall on Friday, September 9th, in honour of Mrs. Betty Sweet who left on Saturday to make her home in Duncan, B.C. along with her husband. X Winners in the speckled trout division of .the Kiwanis Fall Festival and Fish Derby held over labour Day weekend are: 1st prize - R. Cormier, 2nd prize - Mrs. M. MacDonald, 3rd prize - Rene Gaudet. ; Wendy McMillan receives the Tommy Duriez Memorial Award at Water Carnival. 5 YEARS AGO - SEPTEMBER 16, 1971 Mi11 Manager, J.A. Ferrier, has announced a transfer of Mr. Alan N..Chisholm, former Industrial Relations Supt.of the Terrace Bay Mill to the Rexdale Plant of Kimberly-Clark of Canada, Toronto. St. Martin's of Tours was the setting for the exchange of wedding vows between Claire Rita Belliveau and Francis William Roen on August 28th, at 4 p.m. with Father A. Greengrass officiating at the double ring ceremony. Claire is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Belliveau, Terrace Bay and Francis is the son of Mrs. Christine Roen and he late Francis Roen of Schreiber. Kt e party thrown in his honour, A.B.
